Account holders are still adapting to the stay at home and quarantine environment by embracing the digital channel to meet their banking needs. To support this shift, FI professionals are also adjusting. While altered branch hours and the challenges of working from home have created a new way of working, they haven’t changed FIs’ missions to provide continuous support for account holders.
Now more than ever, community financial institutions are essential elements in keeping communities strong. As FI professionals across organizations work to deliver the top-quality support account holders need, it’s especially important to keep an eye on physical and mental health. Here are a few approaches to consider:
Prioritize your immune system
We’ve all absorbed the importance of washing our hands regularly for at least 20 seconds, but that’s just one facet of immune system care. It’s easy to lose sight of maintaining good habits, such as staying hydrated, getting regular sleep, and maintaining a proper diet, which are all particularly important during these times of stress.
Resist the urge to info-binge
Even before the coronavirus pandemic, the 24-hour news cycle could be challenging to keep up with. Now, the pace of information seems even more frenetic. To stay updated while remaining centered, consider rationing the amount of news and social media you consume.
Give yourself a break
For many, the sudden elimination of their daily commute and the convenience of working from home can result in blurred lines when it comes to spending time off the clock. FI staff are going above and beyond to provide critical services, but taking breaks and spending time away from the keyboard are necessary components of providing first-rate customer service.
Get moving
Work commutes aren’t the only thing missing from many daily routines; unfortunately, that trip to the gym or the park may also not be an option. Luckily, there are abundant opportunities to make exercising at home easy.
Remind yourself you’re not in this alone
There’s no way around it, this is uncharted territory, and FI employees are adjusting to new demands in innovative ways. Ask for the support you need, and be available to help others.
